York Stone Memorials

is a natural stone coming as its name implies from Yorkshire, it can be blue gray or sandy brown and is porous, which means that in time it will mellow and lichen will attach itself to the stone.

Portland Stone Memorials

is a natural stone coming from Portland, it is creamy white and can have shell pieces in it, sometimes even fossils. It is also porous and in time will mellow and lichen will grow on itMarble Headstones

Marble Headstones

White Sicilian/Bianca Carrara is a natural material which is quarried in Italy. It is white with gray veining. Although polished the shine will not remain when used in an external environment. It is therefore not usually brought to a shiny finish for monument work. Marble is porous and will mellow and lichen will grow on it.

Nabresinia HeadstonesNabresinia Headstones

is a light gray natural stone with dark gray flecks, it has orangey brown blemishes which are natural, and fade after time. These may reappear when the memorial is cleaned but again will fade. This material is quarried abroad, it is very similar to Crown Stone which is not widely available. It is a porous stone and will mellow and acquire lichen.

Granite Memorials

Granite Memorials

is naturally produced and available in various colours, light gray with dark gray specks, light gray with heavy white and black markings, dark gray, black, dark blue with lighter blue quartz like flecks, dark green with light green quartz like flecks and red/brown with black flecks to name but a few. Granite comes from all over Europe and is usually produced with a high gloss making it nonporous, this stops lichen from growing and discoloration is unlikely, any that does occur is easily cleaned.

Slate HeadstonesSlate Headstones

is a natural material and is available in blue/black and mottled dark green. Blue/Black
comes from Wales and Italy, but normally only slate obtained from Wales is suitable for exterior use. Italian slate tends to "bleach" from a dark blue/black to a light mauve. Mottled dark green slate comes mostly from Weastmorland. Slate is not porous but lichen can lay on the surface, however this is usually quite easily cleaned.
