Our clients contacted us after purchasing the adjoining house to their home in Cambridge, the two houses were knocked into one and the owners were keen to renovate the front of the properties. The stonework was found to be in bad repair.
Scaffolding was erected, both houses were cleaned to remove old paint using ‘Jos & Doff Cleaning System’.
Stone bay windows were dismantled and the 1st floor and bottom R/H windows rebuilt with new Bathstone Cills, mullions, head, jambs and string course.
On the L/H ground floor window; we were able to just renovate the bay by replacing the head and jambs. New sash windows were fitted and a new Lead tray to the roof flashing.
Stone repairs were also carried out to the entrance of the property, new springer stones were replaced on the stone door arches.
The brickwork to the property was repointed and the roof re-slated using traditional methods.
To complete the property cast iron guttering was fitted.
This property clearly shows the difference that stone replacement/renovation can make. It has been transformed back to its original Victorian beauty and will now be structurally sound for many years to come.
